Carl Larsson was a Swedish painter whose watercolor illustrations of his family home at Sundborn became some of the most beloved images in Scandinavian art. His bright, airy interiors and idyllic scenes of family life helped define a distinctly Swedish ideal of domesticity and have influenced interior design around the world. He was also a major muralist, creating large-scale historical works for Swedish public buildings.
