Sir John Lavery was one of the leading portrait painters of the Edwardian era, celebrated on both sides of the Atlantic for his elegant, light-filled canvases. An Irish artist who became a member of the Glasgow Boys, he later settled in London and became the society portraitist of choice for politicians, celebrities, and aristocrats.
