Paul Klee was a Swiss-German painter whose highly individual style was influenced by Expressionism, Cubism, Futurism, and Surrealism. A master at the Bauhaus alongside Kandinsky, he developed a playful, poetic visual language drawing on music, childhood, dreams, and nature. His work is distinguished by its wit, its color theory, and its astonishing range — he produced over 9,000 works.
